Art Appreciation : AA101

Alright.. Monet, Manet, Michaelangelo, Raphael etc.. most of these erstwhile dudes' works are take-your-breath-away-ingly beautiful ! No question about it. They leave the admirer with a temporary case of breakaway lower jaw.

But post Renaissance, the evolution of this 'Modern Art' is something that is much debatable. Who's to say a painting with random lines and colors wasn't made by a baby crawling on a canvas while the parents weren't paying enough attention??

But honestly writing, when it comes to art, I'm as clueless as George W. Bush at a science convention! Something that might come under the hammer at Christie's for the total worth of a small nation, I might pass off as pure junk.

Hence I feel art appreciation classes should be held for laymen like me. Anyone with a sound knowledge of anything arty, get moving and do something to enlighten those of us without uummmm light.

(The author of this post is a strong human rights activist. Protesting the atrocities of the Chinese government especially on Tibetan monks and civilians, he is on an indefinite hunger strike. This has affected his thought process and some attempts at humor might have fallen quite flat.)
